The first time I used the shoulder inferno wrap and the freezie wrap was to treat a rotator cuff injury I sustained from over use and aging. I was in my early 60's and an avid tennis player,kayaker, skier, hiker and biker for most of my life. Doctors were recommending surgery but I opted for physical therapy. This helped but did not give me the relief I needed to continue with all of my athletic activities. Then I started using your product. After activities where I used my shoulder, even weight training, I used the freezie wrap followed by the inferno wrap. Then I used the inferno wrap periodically throughout the day while at work. I'm a therapist and my clients were OK with me wearing the wrap during sessions if I felt the need to. I experienced the ability to use my shoulder and be completely pain free. I was thrilled. Then at age 65 I began to have achilles tendon inflammation which became extremely painful. Doctors explained to me that as we age tendons lose flexibility and are more prone to injury. I bought that explanation to a point but again tried physical therapy, prolonged stretching, Ibuprofen and rest. I had relief if I used large regular doses of anti-inflamatory medications but was concerned about the long term negative affects of the meds. I purchased the Ankle inferno and freezie wrap and began the same routine I had used with my rotator cuff injury. I'm happy to say the results were the same. Even this aging body was able to repair and stretch my achilles tendon with exercise, and the cold and warm treatments from your products. Now I am still playing tennis and doing all of my other activities and I remain pain free. After athletics I use the freezie wrap followed by the inferno wrap. Also, before I play racket sports or hike I use the inferno wrap on my ankle and follow with gentle stretching. When I get home I use the freezie wrap. Who knows how long I will be able to continue my active life style. But right now I know that these products are enabling me to be an active, vibrant, aging woman who can (almost) keep up with my kids. I should add that I also maintain a healthy weight, train with weights, exercise every day and eat a plant based diet with lean protein. Even my healthy lifestyle wasn't enough to prevent these nagging injuries that become more prevalent as we age. So....thanks for making a great product ...... and my life more manageable.

What Causes Athletic Pubalgia?

Athletic pubalgia is generally considered a chronic condition (long term and/or recurring) and is a result of repeated trauma or overuse of your groin area. It generally begins slowly as a result of inflexible, tight and eventually weakened and damaged hip flexor muscles (psoas major, iliacus, tensor fasciae latae) and inner thigh/groin muscles (adductors, sartorius, pectineus, gracilis) which bend your pelvis forward and stretch your lower abdominal muscles. Activities like hockey, soccer, tennis, distance running, football, rugby and track & field events promote this type of action. These activities also involve a lot of repeated twisting and turning.

The combination of these movements promotes a force imbalance at your pubic bones and pubic symphysis (joint between the 2 pubic bones) that stress the posterior (back) wall of your inguinal canal (passage through your lower abdominal wall). This can cause a disruption of your inguinal canal and lead to weakened and torn abdominal muscles and tissues, in which your muscles, tendons and ligaments pull away from your pubic bone. Specific injuries range from a torn external or internal oblique muscle or conjoined tendon, to a loosened transversalis fascia, or a split between your conjoined tendon and inguinal ligament (among other injuries), an entrapment of the ilioinguinal or genitofemoral nerves will also often occur.

Vigorous participation in the above sporting activities can overload the bones and tendons at your pubic symphysis and actually cause more than one groin injury at a time (for example osteitis pubis or adductor tendinopathy with athletic pubalgia).

Men are 10 times more likely to experience athletic pubalgia than women, however women do get it. The most likely sufferers are "weekend warriors" who participate in strenuous activities during the weekend, however do not exercise regularly during the week (this can overwhelm and put stress on your body).

Other factors that influence your risk of having athletic pubalgia are age-related weaknesses as a result of degeneration in your bones and muscles, previous surgery, obesity, and defects in your groin area from birth.

I purchased the Inferno wrap and Freezie wrap to treat a chronic Achilles tendonosis (MICROSCOPIC TEARS OF THE TENDON AT THE INSERTION). During the later part of 2008 I was experiencing a lot of tight muscle and tendons and usually working out (running) tired and not properly warmed up and limber. I started the new year with good intention and determined to work on stretching that included following a home yoga program. I am familiar with yoga but admit that I was too aggressive with the stretching that comes from the 'downward dog' position. I believe this aggravated an already existing condition in the Achilles insertion area, this combined with the stress of a late January 5KM road race caused enough pain in the Achilles tendon to force me to discontinue running. I sought medical attention from my family physician who referred me to physiotherapy. Through the early stage of therapy I continued to do regular bike workouts. Unfortunately the pain increased to the point that I had to stop both running and cycling. I attended physiotherapy for just over two months going once a week receiving massage to the injured area, ultrasound, cortisone by patch and ice. I was religious in following the gentle stretching and strengthening routine at home between physio visits. After these two months with little improvement they released me with the instruction to continue with the stretching, strength exercises and ice. I was still in pain and could not run or cycle without causing further damage, walking was painful. I search for other solutions and found the information on the MendMeShop web site. Although skeptical, I purchased the wraps out of desperation, received the product, read all the literature for use and started into a daily routine. Within 7 days I started to experience a reduction in the constant pain. Within 9 days I was walking without a constant reminder of the injury.
