Sacroiliac Joint Pain

The sacroiliac joint is located where the pelvis connects to the spine. It is not a joint with a lot of movement such as the hip, knee, or shoulder, but the SI joint is critical in the transfer of the upper body load to the lower body. The pain from an injured sacroiliac joint can be excruciating, and sufferers need and deserve effective relief.

sacroiliac Joint structure

Sacroiliac joint pain can be difficult to diagnose for several reasons. For one, the SI (sacroiliac) joint often shows up as normal on diagnostic imaging such as CAT scans, MRIs, X-Rays, and bone scans. It is nearly impossible to isolate the SI joint on tests. In addition, it is difficult to manipulate or palpate the sacroiliac joint.

To further complicate the diagnosing of sacroiliac joint pain, other problems such as sciatica, back pain, hip arthritis, and others can cause the same or similar symptoms. For that reason, it takes someone specially trained in bone and joint diagnostics to determine if sacroiliac joint pain is the appropriate diagnosis. Tests can range from applying pressure on the joint to injection of a numbing medication to observe for alleviation of symptoms.

Success Stories

Sacroiliac joint pain is treated with conservative therapy such as avoiding the activity that caused the symptoms, anti-inflammatory medication, and physical therapy. Physical therapy is usually initiated after the acute phase is under control. Ultrasound therapy of the type provided by our personal therapeutic ultrasound device may also be included in a therapist's treatment regimen.

BFST™ - Using Your Body's Natural Healing System

Inferno Wrap providing superior blood flow stimulation.

Your body can heal itself! In fact, your body starts healing itself the moment you are injured and it's the blood in your body that makes it all happen. Your blood is the transport mechanism for everything that is good inside you. It carries oxygen, nutrients, water and antibodies. Proper blood flow is essential to healing. Unfortunately, when you injure your body you stop moving and the swelling sets in. That means your vital blood flow can be reduced to a trickle! If you want to heal quickly, you need to keep your blood moving and that's where Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™, or BFST™, comes in.

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy™ promotes the flow of blood through the injured area without the need to exercise your already damaged tissue. You can really feel it work. Within moments of applying an Inferno Wrap™ you can feel the healing sensation and the increase in blood flow. During a treatment, and for quite some time after you finish, your injured area will experience increased blood flow even though your body is at rest. It's a soothing sensation and extremely effective. With BFST™ your injury is constantly being fed with healing, nutritious, oxygen and energy filled blood. This is exactly what your body needs to heal.

xyliss ultrasound

Ultrasound therapy is also a helpful tool for pain prevention of an injured tendon, and having a portable ultrasound device at home can be a powerful and convenient treatment tool. If you have symptoms or are recovering from an injured tendon, using ultrasound on a regular basis before your activity or throughout the day will help relax your muscles, tendons and tissues, diminish pain and inflammation, soften scar tissue and contribute greatly to the healing of your injury.

If you suffer from mild inflammation or pain after certain activities or movements use ultrasound therapy when you complete the activity and then rest and elevate your area of injury. Limit the application of ultrasound to a couple of treatments per day (the manual will recommend treatment frequency depending upon the injury). In between ultrasound treatments, maximize your pain relief and injury recovery by using an Inferno™ Personal Therapy System. Proven Performance, Proven Relief - only found at MendMeShop.com. If you have been given a treatment plan by your health professional, make sure you adhere to it to ensure pain free living. In general, people who are committed to their therapies and exercises will have the best medical outcomes.

MendMeShop Live Chat Live Help

Dear MendMeShop,

I purchased the Inferno wrap and Freezie wrap to treat a chronic Achilles tendonosis (MICROSCOPIC TEARS OF THE TENDON AT THE INSERTION). During the later part of 2008 I was experiencing a lot of tight muscle and tendons and usually working out (running) tired and not properly warmed up and limber. I started the new year with good intention and determined to work on stretching that included following a home yoga program. I am familiar with yoga but admit that I was too aggressive with the stretching that comes from the 'downward dog' position. I believe this aggravated an already existing condition in the Achilles insertion area, this combined with the stress of a late January 5KM road race caused enough pain in the Achilles tendon to force me to discontinue running. I sought medical attention from my family physician who referred me to physiotherapy. Through the early stage of therapy I continued to do regular bike workouts. Unfortunately the pain increased to the point that I had to stop both running and cycling. I attended physiotherapy for just over two months going once a week receiving massage to the injured area, ultrasound, cortisone by patch and ice. I was religious in following the gentle stretching and strengthening routine at home between physio visits. After these two months with little improvement they released me with the instruction to continue with the stretching, strength exercises and ice. I was still in pain and could not run or cycle without causing further damage, walking was painful. I search for other solutions and found the information on the MendMeShop web site. Although skeptical, I purchased the wraps out of desperation, received the product, read all the literature for use and started into a daily routine. Within 7 days I started to experience a reduction in the constant pain. Within 9 days I was walking without a constant reminder of the injury. I tried doing a ride and although the short 13 mile ride was enjoyable I started to feel the injury flair up again. The injury is not completely healed but the progress I am experiencing gives me hope that with a continued discipline of home treatment using the products, gentle stretching and the use of wearing a brace on my foot while sleeping to prevent the tendon from retracting, will in time bring about the full healthy healing of the injured area. I have found that you really have to be in tune with what you are feeling during the gentle stretching and often back off the stretch so as not to cause repetitive injury to the already weakened area of the Achilles insertion.
